BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Gulshan Kumar is presently working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical
Engineering at Birla Institute of Technology & Science, Pilani-Dubai Campus (BPDC), UAE. Before joining
BPDC, he had worked as Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Thapar Institute
of Engineering & Technology, Patiala, India, for more than 3 years. He received the Doctorate degree with
entitled “Residual Stresses in Zirconium: A Combined Experimental and Numerical Study”, from Indian
Institute of Technology Bombay (IITB), India. He acquired his Bachelor’s degree, B. Tech., in Mechanical
Engineering from N. C. College of Engineering, Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra. He has been awarded
with a Gold Medal by Haryana State Governor for standing 1st position in B.Tech. He has experience of 4
years 11 months of teaching (Pre PhD and Post PhD). He has published the papers in various international
journals. He is supervising Masters and PhD candidates for research thesis. His research field includes
Manufacturing, Metal forming, Residual stress, Structure-property correlation, Material characterization and
FE based simulations. His other research interests is in sheet metal forming, thermo-mechanical processing
of metallic materials, stress relief annealing and FEM simulation of machining and welding processes.
Recently, he started working in the field of manufacturing management: operations management and
industrial engineering, total quality management, quality control and lean manufacturing.
